Who should enroll?
Our first course is perfect for those new to climate activism. Maybe you have been part of the Climate Strikes, or are wanting to make a difference in your community, but don’t know where to start. We’ll help you to Understand the Basics of Climate Science in easy-to-understand terms so you can explain it to others.
If you’re already studying Environmental Science or similar, you may be better suited to start with Course 2: Developing a Sustainable Economy. Understanding the Triple Bottom Line of People, Planet, and Profit will help you to learn how to implement the practices you’re learning in your life to create a Sustainable World.
These courses are made to take beginners to advanced activists. You do not have to have prior knowledge on environmental issues. Some past Envoys took the class to practice their English language skills, to learn something new during their daily commute, to build on what they were learning in school, or to gain leadership skills. We ask that you come with a desire to learn more, and the dedication to follow through on assignments!
“For someone seeking to have a better understanding of climate change and it's related issues, ClimAcademy course on climate change offered me what I wanted. Course content [is] easy to understand, presented in simple terms and you know what's interesting - you don't necessarily have to have a background in environmental science/natural resources to participate! The discussion forum is my go to to learn what's happening in other countries/continents. It really makes me know that issues relating to climate change [are] not bound by geographic borders.”

Our First Cohort
ClimAcademy welcomed its first cohort on Earth Day 2020 with 50 participants from 30 countries. With their feedback, we have been able to continuously improve our coursework to better support skill development and address accessibility concerns. We are excited to continue supporting members of this cohort who move through the remainder of our program and hopefully are taken on as Climate Ambassadors by the beginning of 2021!
“Learning on ClimAcademy [has] been very helpful and impactful in understanding the climate change and activities that contribute to climate change and also important mitigation steps on how to protect the Environment. The combinations of skill set and knowledge I gained from this course will allow [me] to make a worthwhile contribution on issues surrounding climate change in my community.”
