Qiyamud Din Ikram

Qiyamud Din Ikram, who believes in youth climate activism, has completed his MSc Geography of Environmental Risk and Human Security at the United Nations University and the University of Bonn. His experience includes working as an Environmental Safeguards Expert for a World Bank Project and volunteering with various national and international organizations in the fields of climate change, climate change migration and the environment. He also serves as a Climate Change Migration Focal Point at the United Nations Major Group for Children and Youth, where he has the opportunity to provide policy recommendations for climate change migration as well as draft policy documents that will influence significant UN migration reports.

Through his master studies, he has become aware of the interconnected nature of climate change and disaster risk reduction and how it affects every aspect of development. His academic background and professional career have given him the opportunity to learn more about advocacy, policy-making and campaign strategies and how he can utilize their voice for climate change justice.

As a Climate Ambassador Mentor, he was excited to learn more skills for how to tackle climate change through active citizenship and to empower individuals and groups alike to be climate ambassadors in their own individual ways.

His favorite quote is: “The greatest danger to the planet is the belief that someone else will save it”, and therefore he promote ways to combat climate change and environmental degradation at local, national and international level. He looks forward to being actively involved in the Care About Climate, using his relevant academic background and professional experience to enhance awareness of the environmental challenges we face now and in the future.
